Art Director (2016-2020)
Quiksilver has built a legacy of supporting the creative and visual arts through the visualization of youth and coastal-culture for over 50 years. So it was an honor to be Global Art Director and to lead a team of 8 artists for this legendary brand. In my tenure, I built the seasonal art direction for the brand and led brand-wide creative initiatives with broad marketing applications across Snow, Surf, Skate and Lifestyle categories and lived globally across ecomm, social and retail platforms. In addition, I kept my tools sharp by designing for key special projects and brand initiatives.

Safari Special x Buck Mason (2022)
Tim Martin is an engineer, builder and serial entrepreneur from Los Angeles, California. He came to me with his dream to re-build and race a period-correct, late 60’s Meyers Manx dune buggy in the upcoming 55th Anniversary of the Mexican 1000. Armed with a box of vintage dune buggy magazines, race ephemera and no shortage of stories from interviews and discussions, Martin tasked me with helping me create the branding, identity and graphics for his passion project. Through sketches, drafts, and creative discussion the final creative was rooted in authentic, south-of-the-border mystique and pays homage to the pioneers of this fascinating sport. Before long, sponsors were painted in livery on the race vehicle and a buzz has grown around the Safari Special brand, attracting the attention of partners Buck Mason, Madre Mezcal, and other tastemaker businesses.

In anticipation of the 2020 US Presidential Election and in support of a larger collaboration with Weidden + Kennedy entitled “WESA: We Can, We Will, We Are Change” that features celebrities Rupaul and Katie Holmes, lead a team of artists to concept and create a collection of politically-motivated marketing and product assets that celebrate democracy, inclusion and a brand-wide initiative to promote record-breaking voter turnout.

Birdwell Beach Britches (2015-16)
In 1961, Carrie Birdwell Mann transformed her small California home into a sewing room, launching Birdwell Beach Britches, a pioneer in surf specialty wear. And for more than 50 years, Birdwell has made purpose-built apparel that lasts generations. For this opportunity, I partnered with leaders to expand on the story of this legendary brand and the antics of their beloved mascot, “Birdie,” thus bringing the iconic brand to a new generation of surfers and coastal enthusiasts.
